Pathivugal

Pathivugal is an annual event of the Department of Visual Communication & Electronic Media for students to exhibit their skills and talents in short filmmaking. Since 2004, Pathivugal has bridged the film enthusiasts from all over South India. Eminent filmmakers are the juries who share their expertise, judge the short films screened and award the best films. Pathivugal has been graced by prestigious film personalities like K. Balachander, S.P.Muthuraman, Santhana Bharathi, Lenin, Sasi, Mysskin, Ram, K. Bhagyaraj, R.V. Udayakumar, Vasanth, Ameer, Agathiyan, Balaji Sakthivel, Ram, Chimbu Deven, Kathir, Badri Venkatesh, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Raju Murugan, Bharathan, Arivazhagan, Sarjun, Susindran, Dhananjayan and many of the prominent celebrities from the Media Industry. We invite colleges from all over India to be a part of this grand fest.

Rules and Regulations

1. Pathivugal 2026' is a national level short film festival for college students. Short films of any theme shall be submitted.


2. The total runtime, including title and end credits, must not exceed 20 minutes. Entries exceeding this limit may be disqualified.


3. Submitted short films must have been completed on or after January 1, 2025. The submission must be made by the rights holder of the film. An authorization letter from the Head of the Department is mandatory for submission.


4. Films may be in any Indian language but must include English subtitles.


5. Films must be submitted in Full HD resolution in either MP4 or MOV format.


6. Films must not include copyrighted content unless:
   The participant holds a valid license for its use, or The usage qualifies as fair use under copyright laws.


7. Participants must retain proof of licenses and provide them to the organizers upon request. Statutory warnings must be included where ever applicable. The organizers are indemnified against any legal claims arising from copyright infringement.


8. The decision of the jury shall be final and binding. Prizes/benefits are non-transferable and cannot be assigned or substituted.


9. All entries must be submitted on or before March 1, 2026. Films must be uploaded to Google Drive, with link-sharing enabled for "Anyone with the link." The link should be provided in the registration form.


10. The list of selected short films will be published on the official website by March 3, 2026.


11. A non-refundable registration fee of‚ Rs. 300/- is required. Payment should be made only via NEFT.

13. Day 1 of Pathivugal is open to participants from colleges across India, and the cash prizes mentioned in the poster are applicable to colleges nationwide.


14. Day 2 of Pathivugal is exclusively for students of Visual Communication & Electronic Media, PSGCAS. Rs 2000 will be awarded for each category winner.
