About PSG Food Processing Centre

PSG Food Processing Centre (PSG-FPC) is housed within PSG College of Arts & Science, Coimbatore. The centre undertakes activities for the benefit of food and agro-processing industries, entrepreneurs, scientists, research institutions, government bodies, universities and colleges. PSG-FPC is licensed by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).

Vision

  • To serve as a Nodal Centre for education, training and research in post-harvest technology
  • To create entrepreneurs in the food processing sector through business incubation
  • To collaborate with academic, research and food industries
  • To utilize by-products of food industries for novel product development

Facilities & Processing Areas

PSG-FPC has three distinct processing areas equipped with modern pilot-scale equipment.

Pre-Processing

Fruit receiving, washing, grading, slicing, blanching and preparation operations.

Processing

Thermal processing, pasteurization, dehydration, retort processing and product formulation.

Packaging

Bottling, pouching, canning, vacuum packaging, sealing, labeling and batch coding.

Research, Development & Incubation

PSG-FPC functions as a research and development–cum–incubation centre supporting entrepreneurs, industries, and academic institutions in food processing innovation and commercialization.

Technical Training & Skill Development

Entrepreneurs are provided structured technical training and hands-on experience in food processing, preservation, and value addition.

Product Development & Pilot Trials

Access to pilot-scale processing equipment is provided at nominal charges to enable formulation trials, process optimization, and scale-up studies.

Consultancy & Collaborative Research

The centre offers consultancy in product development and market testing, and supports collaborative research through public–private partnerships.
