NATIONAL CADET CORPS (NCC) AT PSG COLLEGE OF ARTS & SCIENCE

Welcome to the official page of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) at PSG College of Arts & Science (PSGCAS). The NCC is a distinguished tri-services organization that combines the Army, Navy, and Air Force to foster discipline, leadership, and a sense of service to the nation among young cadets. At PSGCAS, we take immense pride in being a part of this esteemed organization and providing our students with a platform to grow into responsible citizens and leaders of tomorrow.

About NCC

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is a voluntary youth organization in India that recruits cadets from schools, colleges, and universities. Established on 15 July 1948, under the National Cadet Corps Act, it aimed to provide more effective training. While initially focused on military skills, the NCC has evolved to emphasize leadership development, social responsibility, and youth management. Today, the NCC offers cadets a well-rounded experience that prepares them to become responsible, active members of society, contributing to the nation even in peacetime.

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is a voluntary youth organization that recruits cadets from high schools, colleges, and universities across India. Formed under the National Cadet Corps Act of 1948, the NCC aims to instill the values of leadership, discipline, and social responsibility in young people. Established on 15 July 1948, the NCC succeeded the University Officers Training Corps (UOTC), which was originally founded by the British in 1942. During World War II, the UOTC did not meet the British expectations, which led to the formation of the NCC as a superior alternative to train young men not only in military skills but also in leadership and social service, even during peacetime.

Initially focused on military training, the NCC program has since evolved to emphasize the development of leadership qualities, social service, and youth management. Today, it offers cadets a well-rounded experience that prepares them to contribute meaningfully to society.

NCC Air Wing: A Pride of PSGCAS

The NCC Air Wing (Flying Branch) at PSGCAS, also known as 2(TN) AIR SQN NCC – A-Flight, has been a source of pride for the institution since its inception in 1962. Our Air Wing offers specialized training in aviation and aeronautics, in addition to the core NCC activities. Cadets in the Air Wing are trained in both ground and flying operations, developing valuable leadership and technical skills along the way.

The Air Wing at PSGCAS currently consists of around 100 cadets, who actively participate in all NCC activities and maintain a high standard of excellence. Over the years, our cadets have gone on to achieve remarkable success in aviation, defense services, and other fields, reflecting the quality of training and leadership that the NCC Air Wing provides.
