The Department of English (Unaided) was begun in 2002, offering MA English initially. Due to the growing demand for courses in English Language and Literature, BA English was started in 2014. The Department focuses on English literature and ELT. Recent developments within the field of English Studies have broadened our purview to include post-colonial literatures from India, America and other countries of the world and literary theory. Our department has introduced certain innovative papers on editing of school level English text books, teaching English through media (when the area was still fresh) and analysing Shakespeare's plays from unique perspectives. We are a large department with 34 professors teaching Part II English to 49 departments of this college.
