The IIC Student Champions Club at PSG College of Arts & Science (PSGCAS) is a dynamic platform established in collaboration with the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) to foster innovation and entrepreneurship among students.
The club is composed of selected student representatives from each class, nominated by their department heads, to support and promote IIC's activities at both departmental and institutional levels.
To cultivate a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship within PSGCAS by empowering students to take active roles in driving institutional initiatives and contributing to the broader innovation ecosystem.
The IIC Student Champions Club at PSG College of Arts & Science (PSGCAS) is a cornerstone initiative established to foster a robust culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among students. This club, formed in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of PSGCAS, plays a pivotal role in aligning the student body with the institution’s broader goals of innovation.
The club's structure is unique, with two student members from each class being nominated by their respective Heads of Departments. These students, chosen based on their interest and potential, are deputed as Innovation Cell Student Coordinators, Incubation Cell Student Coordinators, Startup Student Coordinators, IPR Cell Student Coordinators, and Social Media Student Coordinators under the IIC.
The club's main objective is to support and execute the quarterly mandatory activities, celebration events, and self-driven initiatives as prescribed by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell. These activities are not only integral to the institutional calendar but also serve as platforms for students to gain hands-on experience in the fields of innovation and entrepreneurship. The club members undergo rigorous training provided by the Centre for Innovation Incubation & Entrepreneurship (CII&E), equipping them with the necessary skills to fulfill their roles effectively.
Under the guidance of Dr. Krishnaveni, Assistant Professor & Head, and IIC Convenor, these student coordinators work closely with the Innovation & Entrepreneurship faculty coordinators within their departments. The collaborative efforts of the IIC Student Champions Club have led to significant contributions in creating an ecosystem that nurtures creativity and entrepreneurial spirit across the campus.
The students' active participation in conducting IIC activities, coupled with their responsibility for submitting detailed reports to the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell portal, ensures that PSGCAS remains at the forefront of fostering an environment conducive to innovation. The IIC Student Champions Club is not just a student body; it is a movement that instills leadership, teamwork, and a profound understanding of the innovation landscape in its members.
This club exemplifies how student-led initiatives can significantly impact an institution’s drive toward excellence in innovation and entrepreneurship. The club also plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world application by encouraging students to take ownership of innovation-related projects and activities. Through this club, PSGCAS aims to develop a generation of innovators and entrepreneurs who are not only academically proficient but also possess the practical skills and knowledge needed to succeed in a competitive global market.
The IIC Student Champions Club, with its comprehensive approach to student engagement, serves as a model for other institutions looking to embed innovation deeply within their educational frameworks.
