Dr D Brindha has been appointed as Principal of PSG College of Arts & Science with effect from 11.05.2018. She is a proud alumnus of PSG CAS having completed her BSc and MSc Biochemistry with excellent academic credentials. She did her doctoral research from Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women. She joined the Department of Biochemistry at PSGCAS as Lecturer in 1988 and later became Head of the Department in 2013. Having over 30 years of teaching experience she has transformed several young graduates to a blossoming research and academic experts. After assuming charge as Head of the department of Biochemistry she has been instrumental in bringing out multi faceted development in all academic activities of the department including research and outreach. She has exemplary expertise in handling various courses in biochemistry. She always believes that Expansion, Equity, Empowerment and Eminence should be the base for drawing a road map of institutional success.
Dr D Brindha has always been very active in establishing professional networking with many academic and research establishments. To mention a few she is an active member of Asia Pacific Chemical Biological and Environmental Engineering Society, Singapore, Indian Science Congress and Indian Association of Applied Microbiology. She has travelled extensively and presented papers and research findings in niche conferences held at USA, Canada and Singapore. She has received travel grants from UGC for paper presentations at Singapore and USA. She also has served as resource person and key note speaker at Canada. She has been instrumental in exploring possibilities of research tie ups with Tel Aviv University, Israel.
Dr D Brindha has been honoured with many awards and recognitions. Notable among them are Academic Excellence Award by PSG Institutions in 2014, 2015 and 2016, Best Citizen of India award in 2014.
During her rewarding tenure at PSG CAS she has served as a member in several committees of the college contributing her best to the development of the institution. She has been in the expert panel for many PhD candidates with in Bharathiar University as well as in other universities.
Dr D Brindha is an active researcher and her core area of research is Cancer Biology and Nanotechnology. She has published a total of 56 research papers in reputed journals. She has a monograph to her credit. Currently she is mentoring 4 students for their doctoral degree and has guided over 30 students for M Phil degree. Two students were awarded with Doctoral degree under her guidance. Dr D Brindha is a pioneer at PSG CAS for successfully organizing several capacity building programmes for school children and College Students. She was the Coordinator for Young Students Scientist Programme (YSSP) sponsored by Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology (TNSCST), Science Academies Lecture Workshop series sponsored by the Indian Academy of Sciences and DST INSPIRE Internship Science Camp.
With a strong experiential learning which her alma mater has provided, Dr D Brindha strongly wishes to contribute to her alma mater which shall drive the institution to a dynamic and vibrant forefront such that students leaving the portals of this great institution will be confident enough to face global challenges. She envisage on working with a 360º focus aligning to the great Noble vision of PSG & Sons’ charities with a societal focus.
